Setting Up Professional Profile

Whether your niche and expertise lie in software design or plumbing, the Geolance marketplace platform enables you to set up services, market them to the right audience, and generate leads the comprise local service seekers.

Step number one to get started involves completing your professional profile. You can only start posting services once you have completed the profile and filled out all relevant information fields with verifiable data to ensure the credibility of all service providers.

Step 1 –Signing Up

To begin, click on the “Get Started” button on the top right corner of the Geolance website’s homepage. Enter a valid business email address, your name, and create a password. The website will send a verification email to the address you entered. Check your inbox and click on the link highlighted to sign in to your new account.

Step 2 –Entering Basic Business Information

Once you have logged in, you can access your account and profile on the taskbar on the left side of the screen. Click on “My Profile” and start filling out the prompts.

·       Begin by adding your address, which you can access right below where your name is on the dashboard.

·       Then add your occupation or area of expertise you will be providing services in. You will also need to add your rate, which you can decide on an hourly or project basis.

·       The next step is filling out the About section in the middle, writing about you and/or your business. Use this section to persuade service seekers, telling them why they should choose your service.

·       You can also fill out the work experience, education, and awards categories on the left-hands ide of the dashboard.

·       You can use the calendar underneath the About section to change the dates of your availability for potential projects.

Step 3 – Lead Preferences

Moving on to lead preferences, this is the section you need to be thorough with to ensure you receive relevant leads. This essentially involves entering the names of services you will be provided as a professional on the website. You can enter your own or choose from a series of suggestions that will be generated based on your occupation.

Then click on the conversion optimization section to see the marketplace rate for the cost of leads and select the area you will be providing your service in. Currently, the marketplace rate for the cost of leads for each task is 10%.

Step 4 – Skills

Next, move on to the skill section and add skills that are relevant to your area of expertise. For example, if you provide digital marketing services, then SEO, SEM, SMM, PPC, etc., are all necessary as service seekers will be looking for a professional with these essential skills. You can also add other skills that might not be directly related to your occupation but still boost your profile.

Step 5 –Profile Photo

Click on the profile photo icon and upload a high-resolution image, which can be your photo or your business’s logo.

Once you upload the profile image, you’ll be required to upload a scan of your National ID or passport with your picture clearly in the shot. This is an important step as this is how Geolance will verify your profile, allowing you to move ahead and create services.

Step 6– Portfolio

You can create a portfolio by adding samples or successful projects you have finished in the past so customers can see the kind of work you provide. You can add an image, explain what the project entailed, its requirements, and how you fulfilled said requirements.

Step 7 –Profile Information

Next, click on your profile icon on the top left corner of the screen and click on “Settings” and on “Profile on the right side of the Settings screen.

Here, you need to enter your full name, location, phone number, and date of birth. You also have to upload your government-issued ID to initiate the verification process. Underneath, you can add links to your social media accounts, which will also be verified by the Geolance team.

Step 8 – Billing Address

Put in the address you want your bills to be directed to along with the post/ZIP code and time zone. You can also add a Tax type, choosing from the options that will show up based on your country.

Step 9 – Credit Card information

Moving on to credit card information, you will be required to enter your credit card number, the name the card is issued to, expiry date, security code, and your address.

Step 10 - Bank information

Your bank information is critical for your account. Without adding incomplete information, you can neither post a service nor apply for a project. This is why your banking information is critical.

Personal information here includes your national identification number and a photo of the ID. Once you have filled those fields, you can move on to adding your bank account information.

You have to enter:

·      The type of account

·      Account title or accountholder name

·      Bank currency

·      Transit number

·      Bank name

·      Account number

If you don’t have a bank account in Canada, you can use TransferWise.

*Note: Canadian account holders can add both US and Canadian accounts while US account holders can add only US accounts as the latter has only one official currency i.e. US Dollars.

Step 11 – Documents

This section will look different depending on your occupation and area of expertise. You will be required to upload copies of licenses, certificates, and other related documents that are necessary for your line of work.

*Not every field or occupation will call for documents.

Step 12–Notification Center

You can customize which notifications you want to receive in the notification center. Categories include project invitations, offers, project progress, project search, and more. This section is important as it will allow you to track your projects and services, enabling you to take whatever prompt action is necessary.

You can also log in with your telegram account to receive the notifications from Geolance on the go.
